Eight of the ten most dangerous places in the U.S. to be a pedestrian are in Florida, according to a recent study.

Some of the most dangerous metro areas for walkers are Fort Myers, Orlando, and Jacksonville, Fla., as well as Jackson, Miss., and Memphis, Tenn.

The study by a group called Smart Growth America analyzed data from 2005 to 2014, drawn from a number of federal government sources to calculate a Pedestrian Danger Index.

Among the report’s findings:

  • Between 2005 and 2014, a total of 46,149 people were struck and killed by cars while walking — an average of 13 people per day.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”.

Walking can be dangerous, as we saw above. Walking without God even more so. “Jesus said, “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”.

Walking in the Spirit  simply means surrendering your will to God’s will on a daily basis. Jesus prayed, “Not my will but thine be done,” because, even he had to surrender his will to the father to complete God’s will for his life on earth.

The benefits of walking in the Spirit of God? The fruit of the Spirit! The fruit of the Spirit is a natural by-product of walking in the Spirit of the living God—-love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. All these gifts, or fruits of the Spirit emanate from your daily walk with God.

The results of walking in your own will? Paul wrote, “The wages of sin is death.”, but thankfully he went on to say, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.
