Traps

FBI agents in rural Oregon recently searched a property rigged with multiple booby traps, including one that seemed like something out of an Indiana Jones movie.

The gated residence had barred windows, heavy duty security doors and an elaborate network of tripwires. A minivan parked across the driveway, prevented vehicles from passing, police said. The vehicle had been rigged with several steel-tooth traps, typically used for wild animals. Also, a circular hot tub on its side was rigged so that when the gate opened the spa would roll toward the gate, similar to a scene from  “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

Traps. The enemy of our soul seeks to trap us doesn’t he? But there is always a way to be free.

The Apostle Paul writes, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it”.

And the Psalmist David said, “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare (trap)”.

And again,”Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped”.

In John’s Gospel we read, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Free from Satan’s traps, free from the despair and disgrace of sin.
