An investment adviser charged with orchestrating a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme spent nearly three-quarters of a million dollars on prayers by Hindu priests in India to ward off a federal investigation and save her failing business, according to testimony at her trial last week.

Six-figure payments for prayers however didn’t spare Dawn Bennett from a 17-count indictment on fraud charges

Using investors’ money, Bennett paid a man in Washington state approximately $720,000 between 2015 and 2017 to arrange for the priests to perform religious ceremonies meant to ease her troubles, said a Justice Department prosecutor.

When we’re in trouble, there is a God who answers prayer, and prayer to Him is absolutely free of charge.

We read in the book of Psalms, “…call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”.

And again, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him”.

Prayer works. ” The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Prayer is time-tested. Hebrews 11 chronicles the heroes of prayer who ” through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens, women received their dead raised to life again…”

Prayer is for everybody. Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

Prayer is for you. John 15:7, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
