“He never actually said so, but I think he made his peace with God.” Forrest Gump, after Lt Dan stopped shouting at God and fell into the waters of the Gulf, at peace.

Peace. Is it the absence of war, a short lived cease fire until the next war begins? Or is it internal, a mystical state achieved  from spiritual enlightenment?  Is it only achieved some day  in the future, when I get that new house, new car, that promotion? When I retire? Or is peace possible to achieve at all in the twenty-first century? Are there too many voices calling from too many sources? Social media, TV and films, Advertisers, Telemarketers, friends, neighbors, family, work; Distractions and busyness, each voice another brick in the wall that separates us from peace.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

The fictional character, Lt Dan challenged God, blamed God, shouted at God, but not until he surrendered to God did he find peace.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
