Rep. Greg Steube, a congressman from Florida, has issued a public response after his Democratic colleague Rep. Jerry Nadler of NY said “God’s will is no concern of this Congress” during an intense debate over the Equality Act on the House floor last week.
As Christian Headlines previously reported, Nadler made the comment after Steube argued that the Equality Act contradicts the Bible as the existing “gender confusion in our culture today is a clear rejection of God’s good design.”
Now Stuebe is warning that the pushing of the Equality Act is leading America away from God.
“If we’re not on the shoulders of God as it talks about in scripture, then we’re on the shoulders of somebody else that I don’t care to be on the shoulders of,” he told CBN News Chief Political Analyst in a recent interview.
“We’re going in a direction in this country that is very clearly not the direction of God. If we’re not going in the direction of God, then we are going in the direction of the evil one,” Steube said.
Steube noted how the bill is “very much confusing the gender identities that we have in this country” with the redefinition of gender.
“It is no longer deemed at biologically when you were born. It is now what you have identified as. And you can feel as a woman in the morning, and you can feel as a man in the afternoon. And our government is going to recognize whatever identity that you feel as at that given time.”
If the Equality act is passed and signed by President Biden, the Florida Congressman noted that it would permit biological male transgender athletes playing in women’s sports.
“We’re not only going to have them playing on the soccer field with women and children, and young girls in middle school, they’re also going to be able to go in their locker rooms,” Stuebe warned. “They’re going to be able to go into their showers, and partake in everything that women and girls are partaking in in athletics.”
Back in January, Steube reintroduced his bill, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which aims to guarantee the protection of Title IX and female sports.
“Therefore, only biological women can compete against biological women in women’s sports,” he explained. Otherwise, colleges would lose their Title IX funding.”
Stuebe also noted that Biden’s Gender Policy Council would redefine Title IX.
“Whoever wants to identify as that gender on that day can,” he said. “In my opinion, it undercuts all the gains that we have had for women’s sports and women’s equality since 1972 as it relates to Title IX sports.”
“We’re going to go completely in the opposite direction. Because if biological men can compete in women’s sports, it’s not women’s sports anymore,” he warned
